My New Favourite Treat--- Hidden Garden Foods Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have a new favourite food item and surpassingly there are more vegetables involved than I like to admit.  I discovered these bad boys at Ferraro Foods in Trail a couple of weeks ago in Trail, BC and I have been addicted to them since.

 I am so sold on the chocolate chip flavoured cookies made from pumpkins that I have not tried the other flavours (including red velvet cupcake) yet! Tonight, after a crazy day at work I think I am going branch out and try a new flavor and be in my happy place as I watch more of season two of Orange is the New Black!

Another great BC product! Check out these guilt-free treats! Gluten free, no preservatives or artificial flavours and they taste just like my great-grandmothers amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe that’s loaded with guilt inducing ingredients among other things.

UPDATE: The Rock Creek Cat In A Tree

Yesterday our lovely General Manager here at Mountain FM received word that there were cats in distress in Rock Creek. He asked me to let everyone know and call the woman who has let him know about the issues. Wendy from On the Water Campground gave me all the details about a group of cats or kittens that had been stuck up in a tree for days. She had tried to help them herself but had no way to get up the tree and turned to us to get the word out.

Wendy was very upset about the cats and to be honest with you the story weighed on me all day as well. The cats had been without food or water for days up in the tree and Wendy said they were desperately crying for help.

I was so happy to get a call this morning from On the Water Campground with an update on the story and got to speak with the hero of the day himself, Ty. Oh, the power of radio!

Peter Evdokimof on Morning Rocks

This morning Peter Evdokimof joined me on Morning Rocks to talk about the upcoming youth concert coming up on December 1st at the Brilliant Cultural Centre. The concert will feature ages K-12's work in Russian music, poetry and dance. Admission is by donation and doors are at 5pm. 

My First Natural Waterslide Trip

Yesterday I did something pretty cool; I visited my first natural waterslide right here in the Kootenays. It was a pretty big deal for me, I am not a great swimmer and I don’t really enjoy anything about water. To be honest with you I have an irrational fear of drowning, so I when I “swim” I tend to keep my head above water.

I had heard tales about how fun the natural waterslide was at Deer Park and I knew immediately that it was something I would have to try during my time here in the Kootenays. But, as our pre-determined time came closer and closer I started getting pretty nervous about it and even considered backing out of going with my friends.

I am so happy I did go. I was a little scared, I must admit. I watched everyone go down once before I braved the natural waterslide. But, on the second run I gave the natural waterslide a shot and loved it. For a second you think it is going to tear your butt apart but then everything smoothes out, you catch a little air and go flying into the water. To be honest with you the water was not as cold as everyone was saying it was. Honestly, that maybe because I am partially numb to cold water; when I was a kid I swam in the Atlantic Ocean quite a bit every summer.

If you are new to the Kootenays (like I am) or just visiting you should check out the natural waterslide at Deer Park. It is the perfect Sunday afternoon excursion, grab an iced coffee and go for a scenic drive through Syringa Park to Deer Park!
